![]() Given his Socially Awkward Hero nature, it's unlikely that this incarnation was ever interested in participating in motorsports competitions either. In this film, it appears that Hongo had already graduated from university, with Ruriko mentioning that he's currently unemployed, and Hongo himself mentions that he spent most of his time travelling alone on his motorcycle. Adaptational Context Change: In the original TV show, Hongo was a university student who was also focused on getting into a motorcycling competition, and still does between fighting Shocker as Kamen Rider. In this film, Takeshi is completely alone before the start of the movie, with his father dead in the line of duty and his professor exploiting the resulting pain to excuse augmenting him into a half-grasshopper mutant. Adaptational Backstory Change: In Ishinomori's manga, Takeshi's parents died, leaving him in the care of the elderly Tobei Tachibana.Although Hongo still takes the fight to SHOCKER as Kamen Rider, he remains a Reluctant Warrior for most of the film, acting more Resigned to the Call for the sake of protecting others. Here, Hongo is horrified at the violence he's capable of inflicting on others while in his transformed state, the emotional disassociation caused by the helmet's functions almost framing his Batta Augment form as a Superpowered Evil Side. In a more general sense, Hongo is typically shown in most media to possess no qualms about employing lethal force against his enemies, with most of the angst in the TV show's early episodes being centered around the potential loss of his humanity due to Shocker's augmentations. This incarnation of Hongo witnessed the death of his father, a police officer, during an act of senseless violence, a deeply traumatizing event which sparked his desire for power that would allow him to protect others. The original series and other adaptations like Kamen Rider: The First didn't explore Hongo's backstory in much depth, and there was no reason to assume that those versions of the character had anything other than a rather typical upbringing prior to becoming Kamen Rider.Breaking free, Hongo vows to fight SHOCKER as the "Kamen Rider". I trust my heart's decision."Ī physically fit and intellectually brilliant young motorcyclist, Takeshi Hongo's life turns upside down when the organization SHOCKER kidnaps him and turns him into a grasshopper-based "augmented human". ![]() But since this is speed equal, I can see Shin dodge a lot and keep up with Reapa with his max jump distance of 232 meters per jump."I want to protect people. Reapa needs to keep his distance and shoot his toxic and lasers from afar. Shin's going to have to catch him somehow and land a few hits to destroy a limb or so. Since Shin's human form was able to dodge bullets from a rifle, I can see him dodging the toxic waste because Filianore's Rest is a massive area so he won't be able to trap him and that his Rider form is much more reactive than his human form is. Shin's AP scales to 3.5 but the Cyborg he was fighting was stronger than him (Shin was kinda getting manhandled for most of the fight) as well but he won, so Shin should be able to fight people a bit stronger than him. He reacted fast enough to dodge and counter easily. Shin's enhanced senses is more hearing oriented since he was able to hear an enemy trying to attack him out of the blue and was no where in sight. Reapa's stealth is him get out of people's sight. Just one has ranged attacks and the other has regen. Looking at it, these two actually have a similar fighting style. So for Shin to be able to hit Respa, I think it has to be through that and not letting Respa use range by getting close.įor his durability, Shin survived a Large building explosion without getting hurt so I can imagine Shin regenerating from Reapa's attacks. This move is actually the exact same thing you explained how Reapa did his stealth move. In the movie, he was able to sneak attack the cyborg (That has the same enhanced senses as Shin) with his jumping. Shin usually use jumping in quick succession to his advantage (Jump height of 114m and jump distance of 232m). Looking at the Location, they are fighting at Filianore's Rest and from the pictures, it looks like it has a lot stuff that can generally give stealth away (sand foot prints, hearing foot steps etc.) Combine that with Shin's enhanced senses that let him notice that an enemy was going to attack though a ceiling without x-ray makes Shin able to notice attacks coming pretty well. Shin fought a cyborg before and defeated him but I don't know if the poison had anything to do with it.
